TIPS FOR THE WEEK

Important Notes:

  • Next Week begins Level Recommendation Week!  There will be specific details emailed to Deck Supervisors/Notes in the blog for ext Sunday’s post.  Please be sure to read all communication carefully and let a manager know if you have any questions.
  • When it comes to families inquiring about the current level of their students or if their student is ready to move up please remember the following:
    • There may not be space for a student to move up a level or move from a Little Flippers Class to a Swim Stars Traditional Class and we don’t want to say so and give families false hope or make them feel as if they are not getting any value in their current class.
    • The deck supervisor has all of the documentation regarding skills tested vs. attained and is the most knowledgable about whether or not they are ready to move up.
    • Please direct all questions regarding leveling to your Deck Supervisor.

KEEP YOUR STUDENTS SAFE!

Head on a swivel, eyes on students arms reach of non swimmers and stay outside of the box or with your back to the ropes.  In addition when teaching kids that swim independently, follow the weakest swimmer.

LOBBY ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello and Welcome to Week 8 of our Fall Session!

Safety is always our number one priority and this week we will be assessing a variety of safety skills at each level.

At Little Flippers, we believe that the best way for swimmers to recover after an accidental fall into the pool is to return to the spot from which they fell.  In addition to reinforcing this skill, extra challenges are added as the levels increase by encouraging students to float, swim a distance or tread water before returning to the wall.

In SwimStars Transitional we are introducing our safety skill by simulating a fall into the water from the pool edge. Students are taught that the quickest way to return to safety after a fall is to turn towards the wall and climb back out of the water.

In SwimStars Prep and Level 1 we are introducing our safety skill by simulating a fall into the water by jumping from the pool edge. Students are taught that the quickest way to return to safety after a fall is to turn towards the wall and climb back out of the water.

In Level 2 we are introducing our safety skill by simulating a fall into the water by jumping from the pool edge. Additionally, in this level we are encouraging our student to roll to their back for a rest before returning to the wall. This safety skill allows our students to know what to do if they fall into a body of water.

In Level 3 we are introducing our safety skill by simulating a fall into the water by jumping from the pool edge and challenging students to roll to their back and swim across the poll to safety. This safety skill allows our students to know what to do if they fall into a body of water and the nearest safe spot was a distance away.

In Level 4 we are introducing our safety skill by simulating a fall into the water by jumping from the pool edge and challenging students to tread water for a period of time before returning to safety. This safety skill allows our students to know what to do if they fall into a body of water and teaches students how to keep their head above the water while simultaneously moving their arms and legs to staying stationary and vertical in the water.

In Swim Team Prep we will be focusing on the Individual Medley.

As a reminder, we do have on deck showers that can be used for a quick rinse after class (no soap, shampoo, etc. please).  However if you are showering in the locker room, please be mindful of others in the facility and limit your time spent in the shower and please no reserving showers. Thanks for your cooperation!

ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WINCHESTER ONLY:  We ask that all customers please park in the YELLOW lined spots only. They do extend all the way around the building onto the other side of the pool. The white lined spots are for our neighbors across the street. Once again, my name is ______________ and I am available for questions or feedback so please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks and have a great day!
