Swim Team Prep Games

 Warm Up

  1. Freestyle – 2 minute continuous swim (using the pace clock)
  2. Backstroke – 2 minute continuous swim (using the pack clock)
  3. Breaststroke – 2 minute continuous swim (using the pace clock)
  4. Butterfly – 2 minute continuous swim (using the pace clock)

Partner Relay Race (8 Minutes)

  • Have the swimmers form into pairs.  On signal on swimmer in each pair hold the ankles of their partner.  They swim to the opposite side with one using arms and the other using legs. Have swimmers switch roles as you repeat this activity a few times.

Twin Really Race (8 Minutes)

  • Have the swimmer form into pairs. Use a ring to connect the inside ankles of each pair of swimmers. On signal, all pairs of swimmers hold hands and swim to the opposite side using only their outside hands and arms for locomotion. Have swimmers switch roles as you repeat the activity a few times.

Sea Shell Hunt (8 Minutes)

  • Have the swimmers divide into two teams, climb out and line up at one end of the pool. Throws a basket full of of shells into the pool.  The team that accumulates the most shells and brings them back to poolside wins.

Water Ball

  • Divide into two teams and put one team at each end of the pool. A player shouts the name of a player on the other side of the pool and throws the ball to him. If the person called retrieves the ball, they score a point. If the ball is intercepted, then the interceptor scores a point. First team to 7 wins.
