LOBBY ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello and Welcome to Week 15 of our Fall Session!
My name is ____________ and I will be your deck supervisor.
In Transitional & Prep our two year olds are exploring the effects of buoyancy and balance on the back. This is an important safety skill, as it allows students to stay near the surface of the water to breathe, rest, and possibly call for help.
In Level 1 we are encouraging independent swimming on the belly with simple arm and leg movements such as scoops, paddles and kicks. We are looking for students to move at least 2 body lengths of the pool. This independent action will lead to more comfort and confidence in the water.
In Level 2 we are educating our students about swim safety by introducing the roll over technique. We are encouraging them to roll over and rest on the back if they become tired while swimming. This important safety skill can be used in any body of water for swimmers of all ages.
In Level 3 we are introducing side breathing by building on the roll over skill learned in level 2. At this stage we will encourage swimmers to roll over for a quick breath vs. relaxing on their back. Incorporating the arms and kick helps to reinforce the understanding of the freestyle stroke.
In Level 4 we are building upon “pizza arms and frog kick” introduced in Level 3 by refining the Breaststroke. We are reinforcing the proper body position, refining the arms and legs and incorporating the proper breathing and timing.
In Swim Team Prep we will be focusing on Butterfly.
PARENT REMINDERS
The Spring Session is from January 28th – June 23rd, 2025 and is a 21 week commitment. Registration is OPEN! Level recommendations are in the Parent Portal! If you have any questions on how to find your child’s level recommendation, please visit the office. Thank you!
Monday, December 23rd – Sunday, January 5th, we will be closed for all lessons. A make-up has been added to your account if you typically swim those days and no further action is needed.
Did you know that we have an unlimited absence and makeup policy! Reporting your absence in the parent portal will ensure that your account is credited with an absence which you can use for a MAKEUP in another class that is not fully enrolled, has an absence already reported for the day or is a designated makeup class. Please report your absences ASAP so another family can take your spot!
If you are running late, please wait at the door in the center of the of the lobby and the Deck Supervisor will greet you and escort your students to class. Also, at the end of class, please remember to wait at or near exit doors for your swimmers. As a safety precaution, we cannot allow students to wander independently into the locker room, if we do not see a parent/guardian with them. Just give us a friendly wave to confirm if you are not right up front.
On deck showers are available and can be used for a quick rinse after class (no soap, shampoo, etc. please). However if you are showering in the locker room, please be mindful of others in the facility and limit your time spent in the shower and please no reserving showers. Thanks for your cooperation!
ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WINCHESTER ONLY We ask that all customers please park in the YELLOW lined spots only. They do extend all the way around the building onto the other side of the pool. The white lined spots are for our neighbors across the street.
